Job Description:

The Universal Banker provides quality customer service by greeting customers, ascertaining needs and making outbound sales calls. Advises customers in their selection of various accounts and financial services.   Duties include opening, maintaining and closing of all account types, processing deposit and loan transactions as needed, solving customer problems, achieving personal and office sales and service goals, cross selling and referring business to other areas, onboarding new customers, and taking consumer loan applications.       

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides exceptional customer service by greeting customers and assessing customer needs. Answer questions regarding Bank products and services. Opens new deposit accounts. Manages customer portfolio, services relationships and cross sells appropriate products and services to meet customer needs, assuring customer satisfaction, and achieving personal and retail sales goals.
  • Sells retail banking products and services to customers and prospects. Accepts loan applications including obtaining income verification documents.
  • Responsible for direct participation in the achievement of personal and retail sales goals.
  • Generate production reports such as sales production and daily action plans.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with banking partners to maximize sales opportunities and achieve minimum sales standards.
  • Makes appropriate customer referrals to other Bank functional areas such as Real Estate Lending, Trust and Brokerage, and Commercial departments.
  • Effectively handles customer problems and inquiries as well as ensuring that resolution and follow-up are completed in an accurate and timely matter.
  • May perform safe deposit box operations such as opening new accounts, allowing customers access to their boxes and account maintenance.
  • Performs Teller duties as required, including accepting over-the-counter loan payments and deposits to checking and savings accounts; cashing checks; processing night deposits, mail deposits and business drop-off deposits; processing coin; balancing cash drawer, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of banking, sales or service experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal laws and regulations and other bank operational policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in use of various software systems, including Word, Excel, Outlook and other bank-related systems.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Self-driven; able to achieve goals and meet deadlines without close supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a competitive team environment.
