GENERAL DESCRIPTION:    Oversees management, direction and development of the Consumer Lending Department.  Responsible for underwriting consumer direct loans; indirect lending, including underwriting and dealer cultivation/maintenance; collections; compliance; and supervision of Collections Specialist and Consumer Loan Administrator. Provides leadership for the department in the interest of overall growth and development of the financial institution.  Under general supervision, but in accordance with established policies and procedures, makes and services a variety of consumer loans. Accountable for complying with all Bank Secrecy Act and Anti Money Laundering regulations, bank policies and procedures.

               KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Responsible for management of the indirect lending function.
    1. Underwrites indirect loans.
    2. Analyzes market rates.
    3. Conducts business development calls to existing dealers to maintain relationships.
    4. Seeks opportunities for expansion of the indirect lending program through additional dealers.
  2. Responsible for direct consumer loan underwriting.  This includes:
    1. Interviewing applicants for consumer loans; approving and/or declining loan requests; establishing terms of loans.
    2. Assisting branch personnel with branch loan approvals.
    3. Providing special reports to management on goals, activity, suggested lending strategies and changes to consumer lending products and services; also produces regular monthly activity reports.
    4. Implementing changes and additions to the bank’s consumer lending policies and procedures, as needed, to best service community and current market needs.
  3. Responsible for management of collection activities for the bank.  This includes:
    1. Regularly reviewing delinquent accounts to identify problem loans; monitoring problem accounts to ensure timely and complete payments are received.
    2. Offering assistance and resolutions to customers with difficult issues, including personally contacting clients regarding repayment plans to resolve serious delinquency issues.
    3. Preparing and communicating recommendations to Vice President regarding legal and other actions necessary to resolve delinquent accounts; reporting collections efforts and progress.
    4. When necessary, assigning files to attorneys and repo agents.  Preparing non-accrual and charge off request forms.
  4. Directly supervises Consumer Loan Administrator and Collections Specialist.
  5. Manages flood portfolio.
  6. Serves as administrator on bank lending platforms such as Laser Pro, Decision Pro, etc.
  7. Serves as member of CBI Loan Ops, CRA and Compliance committees.
  8. Ensures bank’s compliance with lending policies and practices, protecting the Bank's interests in matters of adequate documentation, adherence to Bank policy, and the various laws and regulations applicable to loan operations, as well as the exercise of sound credit decisions.
  9. Stays up-to-date on new and changing bank lending regulations; trains staff as needed.
  10. Joins area service clubs and organizations and represents the bank at functions and meetings.

              POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree or 6 or more years of related experience and/or training.
  • 2-5 years of consumer lending experience
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer and math skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task; excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations
