New Business Scams: Visa has advised us of two fraud schemes happening that could affect businesses that accept credit cards. Suspects are calling merchants representing themselves as Visa's wholesale division and telling them they can adjust their interchange rates. They attempt to arrange a time to visit the merchant and adjust their terminal, which would record and transmit consumer privacy card information. Visa would never contact a merchant directly to negotiate rates. In addition, others are claiming to be from Visa's IT, helpdesk, or security areas requesting confidential information. Please contact your credit card processor’s help desk immediately if you are suspicious of any communication with people who claim to be from Visa.
